PEI
As we left St. John’s the locals gave us a good goodbye, waving and calling out to us from all along the shoreline. Then a pod of porpoises greeted us just outside of the harbor to escort us as far as they could keep up. Our next day at sea was pretty uneventful. The crew had their “City on the Sea” presentation in the morning where we learned about the “behind the scenes” work that it takes to reduce the environmental impacts of cruising and to make our vacation experience so pleasant. In the afternoon we discovered that we enjoy sitting in the loungers on the promenade deck when the weather is nice. And we had a very red sunset.

This morning we were cruising into port on Prince Edward Island as we pulled back our stateroom curtains. Ahead of breakfast we watched the ship sidle up to the dock and the land crew secure her with ropes. During breakfast we heard Daniel come on the PA to let us know that the gangway was in place and we could disembark. By 9:30 we were walking in the park next to the dock, enjoying the lilies and hostas. From there we walked up Big George street to St. Dunstan’s Basilica.

From there we headed west to Queen street and around to do some shopping. After a quick refresh back at the ship, we went back out for lunch and a little more shopping.
As I type, we are pulling away from port on our way to Sydney…not that Sydney. Daniel told us not to expect much from that port, but i’ll get off the ship for a little bit to be able to say I’ve been in Nova Scotia.
