Boston

Disembarking the ship was exceptionally easy. It took a bit more effort to get ourselves and our luggage to the Longwood Inn, about 0.3 miles from the Longwood stop on the Greenline- Riverside. Boston was the first city to have subways and experience and iteration has improved the designs as they are implemented elsewhere.

Our main plan for the day was to go to the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum. We dropped off our luggage at the inn, but they weren’t ready for us to check in yet, which is quite reasonable as it wasn’t even 11 o’clock yet. Our museum tickets were for entry between 12 and 12:30. We slowly walked the mile to the museum, stopping along the way for bottled water. We had an early, expensive, and bland lunch at the museum cafe. At noon we showed the ticket taker our barcodes and entered.

The courtyard is gorgeous. Surrounding the courtyard are series of rooms with art loosely organized around themes. On higher floors there were large tapestries, pieces of churches, and so so much art. But the ISG museum seems to be a place for young beautiful people to be seen at least as much as for other people to see art. Perfectly put together instagram influencers posed at windows on every floor while their equally young and almost as beautiful staff took pictures.

We are at the end of this journey, hoping to catch our flight back to Austin this evening. Thanks for following along. See you again in early September as Robert and I start our tour of Australia and New Zealand.
