Pickleball

The Nieuw Statendam has pickball courts up on deck 11. Everyday at 9 they have lessons for beginners and at 1 there’s a tournament. Yesterday morning we learned how to dink and drive the ball. Really, I was just working out how far the ball would bounce or lift in the wind and how hard I needed to hit it to get it across the net.

At 1 Robert and I participated in the beginners bracket in the tournament. That was fun. The sunshine broke through the clouds and the weather was as good as it gets.

This morning I ran into Jane, our instructor and tournament organizer as she was heading up to the court. I told her that I’m sitting this morning out to nurse a slightly sore ankle. We both noted that the weather isn’t as pretty now as it was yesterday.
